Long Lake Connector update

tread6.jpgThe Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship (SBTS) Trail Crew is working their magic in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area on Long Lake Connector Trail, which up until a few weeks ago was a poorly built, heavily eroded, overgrown piece of beauty. I say beauty only because of where this trail takes you and the views it offers, not because of the tread condition, which for the most part was a boulder strewn mess. The restoration project is funded through the Plumas County Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) and is supported by the Plumas National Forest, Beckwourth Ranger District.

We knew gong into the project that it would require a lot of hard work and rock moving finesse to have a trail we would all be proud of. I visited the trail on monday and am extremely pleased to announce that the Trail Crew has once again done an amazing job and that Long Lake Connector Trail is ready for prime time. As a tribute to the beautiful work, Long Lake Connector will be featured as part of the Mountain Epic ride and hike on September 12.

The Trail Crew has another week or so on this section before it is complete, and then they will head to the western shore of Long Lake to rehab Mud Lake Trail. Here are some shots from Long Lake Connector, along with a map showing the area.
