New Pumptrack at the Chalet View

That's right we said it. We just completed construction on a new pump track open to the public at the Chalet View, located on HWY 70 between Portola and Graeagle.
It all started as a joke, the notion of adding a pump track to the Chalet View for the up and coming nuptuals of board member, Nica Lorber to long time SBTS member Jonathan Rayner. Chalet View owner, Bob Hickman, immediately said yes, thrilled at the idea of adding another attraction to the lodge, which is already brimming with outdoor recreation possibilities including a golf course, swimming pool, volley ball court, yoga studio, horeshoe pit, fishing pond... you get the idea.
We enlisted the help of long time SBTS friend and Downieville Classic champion, Mark Weir who is famed for his own pump track in Novato. Weir, in turn, enlisted the help of Bryan Culp, who has helped him build 8 other pump tracks. Bryan turned out to be the brains of the operation, acting as lead designer with the spray paint and Bobcat. Mark took cues from him, while our scant team of last minute volunteers took cues from Mark, learning on the job how to sculpt berms, and build rollers.
The track was completed in a three day sprint, with the help of Bob's staff, Nica Lorber, Jon Rayner, Van Sutton, and Mark Baeder. Local kids showed up on the third day, having heard through the rumor mill of it's existence, and did a solid job breaking in the new track.
The track will be open to the public and will be a fantastic addition to the community. We would like to thanks Mark, Bryan, and Bob for all their hard work.
