We're teaming up with the Pacific Crest Trail Association for a special event. We will be working on the section of trail between Sierra City and Jackson Meadows. Lunch will be provided to volunteers.

This project will entail brushing and repairing the trail tread using loppers, Pulaskis, Mcleods, shovels, and pick mattocks. Elevation is approximately 4500 to 6000 ft and volunteers will hike 1 to 4 mi.

Meet at the PCT trailhead where the trail crosses Hwy 49 at 9 am. The location is approximately 2 mi E of Sierra City on Hwy 49. To get there: take Hwy 49 E of Sierra City to the PCT crossing; parking is available on the N side of the highway.

Volunteers need to have: appropriate work clothes (long pants), sturdy closed toed shoes (preferably leather boots), work gloves, lunch, and at least 2 liters of water.

We're going to be doing a split trail day on October 10th.

Please RSVP and then leave a note in the comments saying which trail day you want to attend so we can plan accordingly. We want the majority of folks on the Mills Peak Project. We're looking to get 10-15 volunteers to work with Joe Smailes

Team 1: DOWNIEVILLE SIDE - Joe Smailes Healthy forest project

We'll be working with our partner Joe Smailes to do some fire safety and healthy forest management on his land. For those of you who don't know, Joe Smailes is the individual who owns the land that the Sunrise Trail runs through. Without this partnership, the Sunrise Trail would not exist. Once a year, we give back by helping him keep that land fire safe and healthy.

Meet at: Yuba Expeditions
Time: 9:30
We Provide: breakfast and lunch fixings and tools
Bring: gloves, backpack, layers, hat
We will caravan to the top of Packer Saddle and work up there once everyone is ready. Bring your bike and we can ride the downhill afterwords from the saddle.
There will be an after work barbecue at Yuba Expeditions cooked by Smokey Wayno.
