Fall Mountain Epic #15
Join us for our Fall Mountain Epic #15 in Lakes Basin! RSVP at the bottom of this page.
In addition to the rocky lakey loveliness of Lakes Basin you will also get to partake in:

Schedule
- Friday
- Arrive and grab a camp spot. We will have pasta for those who arrive in time for dinner.
- Saturday
- 7:30 - 9:30am: Registration, pack a lunch, breakfast, and orientation
- 10am: rides and hikes depart from campsite
- 4-6ish: arrive back and camp, hang, socialize etc
- 6pm: barbecue
- 7:30ish: raffle
- 8:30ish: campfire good times
- Sunday
- 8am - 9:30: Breakfast and lunch packing for trail work volunteers
- 10am: meet at the Mills Peak trail head for trail work. We will provide sack lunch and drinks for all volunteers.
Rides and Hikes
- Ride A (advanced) (map)
Pavement to Round Lake, Oakland Pond Trail, Jeep Rd to Jamison, (lets enjoy all the work done there) but not descending the steep section, instead the longer route and lunch at Rock Lake. Return via Smith Connector with option to descend Smith Creek part way and return via Smith Jamison Connector. Return to camp via pavement or singletrack past Lodge. - Ride B (advanced) (map)
Round Lake to Bear Lake to Long, back to camp. - Ride C (Beginner/Intermediate)
Ride to Mills Peak lookout via fire road. Mills Peak trail could be a preferred option if folks can figure the driving. - Hike (map)
Emily Williams will be leading a hike through Lakes Basin
Logistics

Camping
- Group site at Lakes Basin will be FREE for event participants Thur - Sat night.
- Individual sites will be reserved in addition near the group site. Campers must pay for these sites with the camp host.
- Lakes Basin Campground has toilets, but no showers, so be prepared to wash off in the river near by or bring a solar shower.
- Camp ground has running water which is drinkable.
Food
- Friday night:
- pasta dinner
- Saturday:
- bagle breakfast and sack lunch
- evening barbecue
- Sunday:
- Hot breakfast w/the fixings
- Sack lunch for trail work volunteers

Weather
The weather should be warm during the day but tends to cool off at night since we will be at 5,000 feet. Check online to see the latest weather.
Directions to Lakes Basin Campground
- From the Bay Area:
- I 80 East
- HWY 49 North towards Grass Valley/Nevada City/Downieville.
- Left on Gold Lake Highway (at Bassets)
- Left at Lakes Basin Campground
- Directions from the Bay Alt
- I 80 East (through Truckee)
- 89 North (through Sierraville to Graeagle)
- Left at Gold Lake Highway
- Right at Lakes Basin Campground
Membership
Remember, you must be a current SBTS member to attend the Epic. You can renew online or join or renew at the event with cash, check, or credit card. Annual membership starts at $50 a year and includes access to two Mountain Epic Events per year. We also throw in a pair of socks or shirt so you rock the SBTS style.

Space will be limited to 75 participants, so RSVP now to secure your spot. RSVP today(at the bottom of this page... click on the thing that says "sign up for the fall mountain epic"). If you have kids, or spouses attending, please sign them up individually.
Raffle
Our raffles have become famous since they are very rich and few go home empty handed. Bring extra cash to buy raffle tickets. Every penny you spend goes straight to the trails, and you just may win something cool along the way.

Dang it...
Can't do it and I'm bummed. I was lookin' forward to it all summer and now I'm flying up to my folks that weekend...family stuff. I will miss you all. Feels like I've been away from all this for waaaaaaay too long....
Have a blast. Maybe pack an extra shock-pump or two.....

Hey Wayno (et all), I'm in it's been too long. Do you guys need anything from the bay area brought up? should I bring my cordless sawsall? or other tools? Is everything up there in the store front holding together? doors ect? (stuff I did or not, whatever is in need of attention?)
