Halloween Trail Daze in Downieville, October 29 - 30

Join us for our annual "Back to Hell" Halloween Celebration and Trail Daze event in Downieville on October 29th, which is shaping up to be quite an eventful and amusing weekend. Beyond the usual trail work with all the fixins, Wayno (Downieville Cruise Director) has organized us a day of competition- surely for his own enjoyment. The competition is based upon a points system, which rewards participants for trail work, acts of stewardship, creativity and skill, and tolerating an angry, cigar-smoking clown.

Here is the outline for the Back to Hell competition, hosted and judged by everyone’s favorite clown.
Points will be awarded for the following acts and feats:

• Being a SBTS $50 Annual Member = 25 points
• Being a SBTS Core Member = 35 points
• Getting a friend to join SBTS as a $50 Annual Member = 10 points
• Getting a friend to join SBTS as a Core Member = 15 points
• Trail work credit for the day = 10 points
• Wearing a costume = 10 points
• Getting on the podium at the St Charles costume contest  = 15 points
• Completing 3 laps on the pump track without pedaling = 10 points
• Navigating the Bear Bike through an obstacle course without dabbing = 10 points
• Winning a game of Crud = 10 points

In the case of a Tie breaker there will be a dance off, face to face in the bar

TRAIL WORK DETAILS
We will be working on Big Boulder, Butcher Ranch and Third Divide trails, with the focus on tread restoration and readying the trails for the upcoming winter (which we’re hoping isn’t as abusive to our trails as last winter). For Big Boulder Trail, we're looking to organize a group of moto riders to help reconstruct the landslide section and bring the tread back to 30" wide. On Butcher Ranch and Third Divide trails, we’ll be constructing rolling dips and drains, and removing braking bumps caused from wheeled traffic. For those volunteers wanting to ride motorcycles and bicycles into the work sites, we will have tools stashed and awaiting your arrival.

When to meet: at 10:00am
We Provide: breakfast bagels, sack lunch, tools, trail guidance, post-work BBQ and tasty beverages
You Bring: gloves, work boots/shoes, eye protection, layers & backpack
Help Us Go Green: please bring your own insulated cup, camp utensils and packable containers for lunches
What Else: BBQ hosted by Smokey Wayno. No experience necessary and all are welcome.
