Don't forget to RSVP at the bottom of this post so we know how much food to buy!
This Saturday is National Trail Day. A day where trail advocacy groups across the country pick up their pulaskis and dig on the sweetest single track that the U.S. has to offer. We'll be hosting ours in Lakes Basin, finishing some work we started up there last summer. We will be dividing our forces, focusing on the Mt Elwell re-rout, the Smith Lake trail, the Bear Lakes loop, and the Graeagle Creek trail.
The Plans
- Meet at the Smith Lake/Long Lake trailhead next to the Grayeagle Lodge in Lakes Basin.
- Orientation/Sign up/Lunch Packing between 9-9:30am
- Lunch fixings will be provided for you to pack in the morning
- Expect to be out for about 5 or 6 hours, before the prospect of cold beer and more food lures everyone back to the trailhead.
- BBQ provided at end of Trail Daze
Bring
- backpack
- layers
- hat/sunglasses
- work gloves
- sunscreen
- bug spray (it's the snow melt time of year)

Dang, I always miss the fun
Seems I'm going to have to retire to actually get to help on these trails!
My wife and I did do the Slug Canyon trail from Downieville to Goodyear Bar. Nice trail! We've been hiking that trail for years and thanks to all the people that made it such a nice hike. Come summer that will be a great shady trail to be on. Even the dogs enjoyed it.
Keep up the good work.
June 6
Don't forget it will be my 40th Birthday suprise party so be there!!!!
