SPECIAL EVENT: Finish the North Yuba Extension!
Signups closed for this event
UPDATE: We may get some rain this weekend. Trail Daze is still on. Bring your rain gear.
With a little last minute private funding from TNT Plumbing (Toe Clip Todd/ Double D), Jason Moeschler, Nica Lorber, and Joe Graney, we are going to start what we hope to be the final push to punch through the North Yuba Extension. We will be paying trail crew to work toward getting the last half mile of trail completed, but we will still need some additional help.
Nica will be leading a special Trail Daze weekend May 2nd and 3rd, along with Wayno, Chris, and Ron, as a reinforcement effort to kick off the final push toward finishing this long awaited trail. We will work both Saturday and Sunday if needed. Come out and be a part of this important event. Bring your bikes! You can bike or hike in each day, which ever you prefer. SBTS will feed and house any volunteers who can make it up for this weekend.
With your help (and support from the USFS) we have great hope to have this trail open for this season for all to enjoy.
Bring the usual: gloves, hat, backpack, layers etc.
Meet at Yuba Expeditions around 9:30 or 10 both days to pack a lunch, get the shpeel, and head out. Woot!
RSVP below or contact Nica for more information at info@sierratrails.org

Downieville
I just wanted to make a quick comment about the trail conditions around Downieville. My wife and I came up from South Lake Tahoe for some dirt therapy and were pleasantly surprised by the trail conditions. We camped at the top of first divide and rode up 2nd and down third. Very little snow and minimal trees down. Nothing that would make you not want to ride. 3rd didivd was especially sweet with zero snow, overall it was warm during the day with short sleeves and shorts the only layers needed by the end of the ride. Saw only a handful of people and we felt like we had the whole forest to ourselves. Town was pretty slow, with the easter holiday and all. But no more excuses, get up there and support the local merchants during this slow time of year. I hit up the new North Yuba Trail extension on monday, wow, what a great trail this is going to be. Only about a half a mile of hike a bike remaining to connect this trail. Be aware that it is dicey hiking for that section so be careful on the steep fallline hill if you try to pass before the completion. The completed sectons are sweet with real quality trail building. Yuba and the trail building staff were cool as usual. Passed Henry O on the trail, sorry I spooked you, he was working his ass off. Everybody should come up if they can for the last push to finish the trail that first weekend in May. I'm finishing up classes that week so I don't know if I can make it, but it sounds like a great weekend of riding and trail work. So to sum it up Game On in Downieville, get some.
