Graeagle Community Pathway

Project Name: Graeagle Community Pathway

Land Owner: Private County: Plumas

Miles of Pathway: 2 miles Designated Use: non motorized, multi-use

Type of Work to be Performed: Construction of 5' wide pathway connecting Gray Eagle Creek to Frazier Creek. Tread surface will be firm and stable using a compacted gravel base .

Funding Allocated: $25,000. Graeagle Community Service District

Project Status: Route is flagged. MOU with landowner is complete. CEQA study is complete. ADA architecture is complete. The pathway corridor has been cleared 10' wide during our 2010 National Trails Day event (206 total volunteers) and tread construction is ready to go, however, we're waiting on the Plumas County Department of Transportation and Cal-Trans to tell us how to stripe the pavement at road crossings and what traffic signage (pedestrian and auto) is required. This project was started more than 5 years ago and should have been completed within a few months time, but there is a lack of motivation on the Counties' part to complete the project. Sadly it may take someone getting run over on Highway 89 before a safe route is installed. We do have a new District Supervisor as of 1/1/2011, Jon Kennedy, perhaps he can make a difference in our community and get this project pushed through the proper channels.

How You Can Help: If you live in Plumas County, contact Bob Perault at Plumas County Public Works and let him know this project is important to you and your safety.
