Ways to Support SBTS

There are many ways to contribute to our mission to connect mountain communities, create jobs, and support economic growth through recreation. Choose one that fits you!

Support our work through a financial contribution to SBTS

Whether it’s $5 or $5,000, this is the most direct way to support our work. Because financial contributions are unrestricted funds—unlike grants that often require costly matches—we are able to multiply our efforts and stretch each dollar to the fullest. We have many options for contribute, from recurring online payments to donating stock.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, and by joining in trail work or race volunteering, you’ll be doing something meaningful and we’ll make sure you have an unforgettable, genuinely good time!

Participate in Our Events

One of the best ways to soak in the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship experience is to support one or all of our three race events, the proceeds of which go right back into the trails. Dig. Race. Volunteer. Support mountain communities and have a good time doing it.

Ride a Shuttle, Buy Some Swag

Yuba Expeditions sends every dollar of income earned right back into SBTS. Each person who spends their money with Yuba, whether it be buying a seat on a shuttle, paying for bike service, or purchasing a map, bike or T-shirt, helps fund the amazing Lost Sierra trails we all enjoy.

Join Our Fundraisers

SBTS launched the first 5 Bucks a Foot campaign more than 10 years ago. Since that time, the fundraiser has brought in over $1 million in unrestricted funds to support trail development and maintenance in the Lost Sierra. Dollars raised in these campaigns allows us to complete extensive work in the Downieville, Lakes Basin and Quincy trail systems.

Become a Partner

Our partners are essential stakeholders and are directly responsible for the success of the nonprofit. Whether you’re a federal agency, a large bicycle manufacturer or small mom-and-pop local business, you’re making a difference.

Adopt A Trail

The Adopt-A-Trail Program provides an avenue for businesses and individuals to partner with SBTS and our national forests by sponsoring trail maintenance on specific trails. Trails are National Forest System Trails, and the Adopt-A-Trail Program is operated under Volunteer Agreements with the Plumas and Tahoe National Forests.

“Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship, which was founded in 2003, has already had success transforming the tiny Gold Rush town of Downieville, located on historic Highway 49, into a mountain biking destination that hosts world-famous downhill races. In cooperation with the Sierra County Land Trust and Tahoe National Forest, the group has added 60 miles of trails there, many of which are refurbished historic mining trails.”
